i just watched my neighbor plant a tree in their perfect little yard while i sat on my couch in yesterday's pajamas, cradling a jar of pickles like it’s a winning lottery ticket. she didn’t even wave when she passed by, and yet here i am, rooting for her imaginary foliage to die just so i can feel a little better about my unplanted life.
