just got another rejection for my artwork and saw my neighbor's big exhibit being posted all over social media like it’s nothing while my paint still sits drying in this cramped apartment and feels like the walls are closing in.

so i literally haven't seen my mom in six years because of this whole ridiculous leaving-the-country thing, and then she has a stroke last month, so now i watch her on a video call thinking this is the peak of my life, like why can i not just put my life on pause for five minutes to hug her, but also who knew being a global nomad would lead to literally missing my mom's whole recovery as a plot twist, but hey at least the time difference is still working in my favor for awkward family updates.
