everyone says being an adult means freedom, but why does it feel like i'm just sitting alone in a room full of photos of faces i can't even call friends anymore? i went to a concert alone last week, surrounded by people who seemed to belong to each other, while i kept thinking about how i would never fit into that warmth again. is there a limit to how many acquaintances you can collect before the loneliness becomes a permanent accessory? funny how the quieter it gets, the louder those unreturned texts from last year echo in my brain.
